Thank you for clarifying rumor only at this point. It would be nice if the membership was at least made aware that these discussions are happening.

There is rumor that because the Melrose Dock area has been condemned that the Melrose purchasers are talking to HP about using the private HP dock- and funneling traffic thru HP. Is there any truth to this?

This email was from Doug Egly on June 3rd 2021 (8 months ago) assuring NPNE members that dues would not be increasing above $18,500. ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: "degly@haigpoint.com" Sent: Thursday, June 3, 2021, 03:34:58 PM EDT Subject: NPNE Member Dues Increase Dear Member, In my CEO Letter on May 27th I neglected to address the changes specific to Non-Property Non-Equity (NPNE) Member Dues. I apologize and I hope this letter will better inform you of the updates. The annual NPNE Dues for 2021 will be $18,500 total. The billing will be as such; Q1/2021 - $4,125, Q2/2021 - $4,125, Q3/2021 - $5,125, Q4/2021 - $5,125. The Board intends to keep the NPNE dues at $18,500 for 2022, and the billing will be $4,625 per quarter in 2022. In comparison, Signature Full Golf (SFG) members will pay a total of $25,852 in 2022. Therefore, in absolute terms, SFG members are receiving a $2,352 increase annually, whereas, NPNE members increase will be $2,000 annually over what they are currently paying. The changes approved by the Board at their May 24th meeting are intended to help keep pace with the cost of our ferries and club facilities maintenance. Doug Egly, CEO

@barbheenan Hi Ms Heenan, thanks for your post and thank you for speaking up on the changes at the Mansion parking lot. Because of you and others, management listened to the membership and course corrected on an item that many felt required more discussion You are one of the many pillars of this community and we're so happy to have you among the 150+ Haig Point members on Ferry Talk making those discussions happen. With all respect, your suggestion that member concerns pass solely thru the GM's office is exactly why many members feel disgruntled by the lack of open communication and transparency in the areas of finance, marine, health & safety etc. As our membership continues to grow at an unprecedented pace this is akin to passing all concerns thru the eye of a needle. It's not a scalable process and leaves many members feeling ignored and, in select cases, "blacklisted". This can be greatly improved. Currently, communication and information at Haig Point is tightly controlled by a small minority. This will need to evolve as the club evolves. Ferry Talk is here for that transition to ensure that information is flowing easily and freely among members. The office of the GM should strive to enable that and not block it. "Boat Talk" is a completely natural and vital part of our discourse. Again, many thanks for everything you do here for our community.

The environmental committee has not met since last February and it is unclear what is happening with the environmental committee at this point. 100% agree we need representation to address the environmental needs of the island. deer culling process? armadillo trapping and removal? salt water intrusion? shoreline erosion? recycling processes? All of these things need to be in the discussion among others.
