Ask not what your Club can do for you Today: Ask what can I do to Help the Club ?

This Forum is a great place for Members to suggest Member supported projects or to remind one another about things which help one another and help the Club/Community.. Here are some feel good examples and " A call for other Member thoughts about potential future projects we might support and not need the Club to pay for:"

The Cliche' Title of this email is as relevant for our Club today as it was for our Country in 1961.

So what am I referring to? Here are examples:

1* During the early Pandemic a Member group of women got together

and distributed cloth masks for any Member who requested one ----and this

was before masks were universally available. Thank you for stepping up!

2* Members gathered together and funded a much needed dog park. Administration kindly offered to continue ground maintenance. Pre -pandemic it was the scene in afternoons where Members and pups got together for pre-sunset cocktails and snacks. It seems to be used less than pre-pandemic, but in the winter 3:00 PM is a good time to meet. This capital cost was not at Club expense, and was generously Member funded..

3* Rather than thinking something is the "Club's problem, I am paying for it, why bother", let's pickup litter, small limbs on the street, do a better job with our divots, observe speed limits and do a better job recycling the list of approved recyclables? If non recyclable garbage is mixed together with recyclables, we are told that the whole batch will be put into garbage at the processing plant.

4* Contributions to the Haig Point Foundation and DI Historical Foundation are two worthy Member supported projects.

5* Our EMS station may still be accepting Volunteers from the Community?

6.* Let's make it a consensus Policy/ Project to introduce ourselves to all people whom we do not recognize or whom we meet on the ferry. If they are new Members, welcome them to our special Community. Same if they are guests. Let us not be bashful, Let's be cordial. A little thing like that is a feel good Member Initiative.

*****Now Members, think about other Member initiatives / projects we might consider if you think of any in the future. This can be a feel good thing !!

The bocce ball courts were another member funded initiative in memory of past president Bill Heenan. An amenity now maintained by the club and widely used
