I would love to hear from others on their thoughts about proposed increases. I, like many others, chose Haig to retire because fell in love with island. I am currently part timer in rental program as not set to move there full time for 4 years. I have never set foot on golf course or tennis/pickleball courts and never will due to physical restrictions. Never even go to pool. Just love island and to sit on beach. From what i see and hear there is nothing wrong with present amenities but constant problems with boats. If the Board wants to only attract people with unlimited amounts of money and become the new "premier " island resort, then set higher fees for incoming members who want those kinds of amenities and not penalize those of us already here. To be honest, i feel i pay more than enough for what i get and am angry that i am having to consider giving up my membership and/or sell my home due to present actions of board. I suspect that there are plans already in place and quick money is needed, ie the Rees video sent yesterday and the rush being put in place for vote. I would like the Board to address how members like me should move forward when we cannot afford this increase for improvements we will not benefit from. There certainly needs to be more discussion about this matter from the membership.

Look, I sympathize with Ms. Welling. We ALL love the island. And as i posted previously, I can understand how an individual who, like her, does not utilize any of the amenities could find themselves resenting the cost of the necessary maintenance and occasional refurbishment they require. Further, it is quite possible that we have mismanaged our balance sheet. But, THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE TODAY. It is a distraction. And one the new board will, I'm sure, address.

I use the course, roads, and boats regularly. All are in desperate need of repair and upgrade. All are way beyond their useful life and all will be more expensive to address later.
