Board Vote - Why I'm Not Voting
After hearing from a few members that they are not voting in the upcoming board election due to lack of choices, I just wanted to take a moment and say I wholeheartedly agree.
This lays squarely at the feet of the nominating committee, a group of people who were not voted into their position but who strictly control who can run for the board... and who cannot.
Despite multiple additional candidates expressing directly to the nominating committee that they would like to run, the committee only put forth 2 candidates for 2 open board seats- essentially creating a no competition election. One of the candidates is even an existing board member.
The icing on the cake was when the chair of the board stood in front of the membership and patted himself on the back for the excellent work he did. Complete bullshit.
I'd love to participate in an upcoming BOD election when there's at least the illusion of choice. Until then, I'll abstain.
I'm sure the vote will get a quorum, but I will not participate in a meaningless exercise.
I want the nominating committee OUT, and I want fair and unbiased elections that do not stink of cronyism.
