Doug Egly OUT as CEO

Members of The Haig Point Club and Community

As we previously communicated to you, the Board has been working closely with Doug Egly on succession planning.  Doug has made the decision to retire from his position as our CEO, effective August 1. The Haig Point Board wishes to thank Doug for his tenure as CEO of our Club and Community.

Doug and Nancy joined our community in 2015 and have been gracious hosts to many potential and established members and partners over the years since.  Behind the scenes they both give their time generously to Haig Point and Daufuskie Island.  Doug has guided us through many challenges and achievements including:

  • Leading the community-wide clean up and restoration following Hurricane Matthew in 2016.

  • Playing a pivotal role in the strategic planning process for the Club.

  • Facilitating the acquisition of island-wide high-speed internet.

  • Development of the Beach Club Deck into a vibrant and popular gathering area.

  • Establishing Premier Properties, our dedicated real estate company.

  • Witnessing the average home values at Haig Point more the doubling.

  • Witnessing the average home sales price increase of 93%.

  • Selling 45 Haig Point owned lots for a total sales volume of $5.1MM.

  • Welcoming 28 "net new" Signature Members.

Each of these milestones represents Doug's deep commitment to our island, our Club and our Community.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Doug for his exceptional service and contributions to our Club. We are immensely grateful for his leadership and wish him and Nancy all the best.  We look forward to them remaining active members of Haig Point. Maybe Doug will have some time to work on his golf game!!!

We also look forward to a celebration with Doug and Nancy in the near future!

At our July 24 Board meeting we finalized the next steps toward naming a qualified successor.  We will soon be announcing those next steps.  Doug has agreed to help us through the transition period.

Should you have any questions or concerns during this period, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Your continued feedback and input are vital as we shape the future of our community together.
