Proposed assessment

Over the past few weeks, there has been much talk and discussion by owners and members at Haig concerning the proposed improvements and assessments. This is just a followup to that. I am urging all of you to seriously consider voting "no" to the proposals. While improvements may be needed, this is not the way to fund them and now is definitely NOT the time to ask the membership for more money. I believe, as do many others, that we are in the present situation because of mismanagement by the Board and administration of Haig. With continued research by myself and others, this is becoming more apparent. What is needed is to vote down this proposed assessment and start discussions about the changes that are really needed to move forward and how to fund any improvements which are needed in the near future, and what they are. While we are being told that the improvements are critical, this is not the case. The Board is pushing through their own agenda. Please take time to speak with others, find out what the issues are and give suggestions as to how to fund improvements while making sure that the financial management of Haig Point is moving in the right direction. THIS is not the right direction. If we vote for this proposal, I guarantee that this will not be the end of it and we will continue to find ourselves being asked for more and more money to fix the problems which exist. In the information session we were told that any member who is against the proposal and not willing to fund it can just move out of Haig. This is NOT the answer to the problem. Is this how we want our leadership to think? I am a physician who has owned my own practice and served on multiple boards over the past 30 years, and I have never felt discrimination until now. Please consider how to change the direction and leadership of Haig Point so that ALL members are heard and represented. I love Haig Point but right now I feel helpless - not what I expected to feel in the years before I retire to a place and home which I fell in love with and which I thought I could count on to be there for me in retirement. Thank you for taking time to seriously consider this issue and for doing the right thing.

Thank you for your comment. I agree with you 100%. We will be voting no to all of the proposed assessments for the very reasons you stated. I encourage others with concerns for the club’s leadership and financial position to do the same.
