Search for man overboard ferry ongoing Milford Haven Coastguard is co-ordinating the search for a man who fell overboard the Isle of Inishmore ferry earlier this evening.
Milford Haven Coastguard received a pan pan message at 10.38 this evening reporting that the man had fallen overboard at 10.30 pm. The ferry was 18 1/2 nautical miles west-north-west of St David's Head.
The ferry marked the position where the man had fallen with a smoke marker and deployed its fast rescue craft to begin an immediate search. In addition a French warship which was in the area offered the ***istance of its helicopter. Other vessels transiting the area have also joined the search.
Milford Haven Coastguard Watch Manager Mark Harrington says:
"Despite the air and sea search, sadly we have been unable to find this man. The ferry has now continued on its voyage. The helicopter is continuing its sweep of the area but, unless it is able to find any evidence of the man, once it has finished we will terminate the search." |
