Scandlines sold to British/German group SSG-RINGKØBING. Scandlines has been sold to a consortium of British and German financial interest, according to the newspaper Financial Times Deutschland, which earlier has proved to be very well informed about the German part of Scandlines. The Danish/German ferry company has been sold to British 3i (40 per cent), Alianz Capital (40 per cent) and Deutsche Seereederei (20 per cent). According the newspaper, Scandlines was sold for a sum of EUR 1.5 billion (DKK 11.1 billion) to be split between the Danish Ministry of Transport and Deutsche Bahn. The sales also includes a job guarantee for the 2,700 employees at Scandlines, which last Friday announced the first move forward in its business for in several years in the form of plans for the new service between Rostock and Hangö.
The uncertainty surrounding Scandlines has been going on for three years now and the last 10 months have p***ed with a dispute between the owners over which buyer to sell to.
